From Shakespearian time to the 21st century deception has been at the forefront of many relationships. In the "Taming of The Shrew" Petruchio manipulate and lies his way into the cold heart of Katherine the empowered feminist of her day. In the 2003 movie “Deliver Us From Eva” The same deception and lies conspire as Raymond the ladies man lies and influence Eva a self righteous empowered women to fall in love with him.
Regardless of the similar traits both men share toward the pursuit of the women the outcome of the situations change the shape of their relationships. In Petruchio and Katherine’s relationship the wrong deeds Petruchio did in order to capture Katherine is never unfolded. Katherine remains naive to the fact that he was paid to wed her even though they fell in love in the end. Eva and Raymond’s relationship however is unraveled after Eva finds the real reason in Raymond’s pursuit. The lies come down on him and from that rebirths their feelings and the honest factor is set in. In Katherine and Petruchio there relationship is not based on honesty unlike Eva and Raymond’s relationship which is based off of honesty.

Gruimo and Tranio are plotting on Petruchio to get Katherine out of the way because there father set down rules saying that his oldest daughter Katherine must be wed before suitors can have Bianca. Gruimo and Tranio are saying that if you pursue her that in return you'll receive a payment.
Eva sets herself up in the beginning of the movie as a women not to be messed with or she'll crush you.. The three brother in laws are set against getting her out of there lives in order to live happy with her sisters. In this scene Eva makes the men move out of the living room regardless of them being there first and going to the local sports bar to watch the game while the ladies have there book club.

Here Katherine declares her true love and loyalty to Petruchio after she came's to a realization of loyalty love and obedience in the realization of her relationship. Katherine's old way of beings a shrew is dismembered as she accepts her new ways.
In the movie "Deliver Us From Eva" Eva finally finds true love with Raymond regardless of the scheming and deception he caused in the relationship true love finally prevails.

Eva and Katherine put up a no nonsense attitude when on the inside they both have a fragile heart and want to be in love deep down inside. In knowing they were deceived in falling in love or not they were changed in some way. Both honesty and lies became a large component of the relationship the girls shared with Raymond and Petruchio there hard exterior softened and love had gotten a hold of there lives.
